  • What are the health risks associated with swimming pools and spas?

    There are numerous infectious agents associated with the recreational use of water, many of which are introduced by the users themselves. However, all of these risks can be controlled by good water quality management.

  • How can I ensure that my swimming / spa pool water is safe?

    There are a number of regular checks that need to be carried out in order to demonstrate good water quality, for example, regular pH checks and disinfections. In addition to these, monthly biological sampling is essential to verify the effectiveness treatment regs and that the water quality is safe for users.

  • Does my ventilation system need to be inspected within the statutory regulations?

    The COSHH Regulations specify that ventilation systems must be subject to a thorough inspection and test at prescribed intervals, usually not exceeding fourteen months, although for practical reasons this is often carried out every twelve months. However certain ventilation systems may require testing more frequently.

  • How can I tell if my ventilation system needs cleaning?

    A regular program of routine inspections should indicate the need for a full service or clean. There are also a number of tests that can be applied, including testing the air quality within the system, and QES will be happy to advise on a case to case basis.
